Form Goal: Screening, Not a Fill-in-the-Blank Exam
Buyers browsing products on mobile have limited patience. Every additional required field reduces the completion rate. In a B2B scenario, email + country + a brief requirement is usually sufficient for sales follow-up; company name and website URL can be set as optional.
7 Field and Layout Essentials
- Name: Use a single field; do not split into First/Last unless it is customary in the target market.
- Work Email: Better than phone only for CRM and subsequent email nurturing; format validation can be applied.
- Country/Region: Dropdown is better than manual entry, making it easier to assign sales territories.
- Requirement description: textarea 3-4 lines, placeholder provides examples (MOQ, delivery time, specifications).
- Product Context: Hidden field records the source URL or SKU, enabling more precise sales replies.
- Attachment: Drawings/specs are optional; restrict format and size.
- Privacy Notice: One-sentence link to privacy policy, meeting basic GDPR notification requirements.
Placement: Product Page vs Contact Page
Use a 3-field quick inquiry form in the sidebar or footer of the product detail page; place the full version on the "Contact Us" page. Use site-wide popup forms with caution, as they easily trigger CLS and affect PageSpeed.
Spam and deliverability
In addition to CAPTCHA, we recommend honeypot fields + submission rate limiting. Configure corporate email via SMTP plugin to avoid landing in spam. Show clear copy on the submission success page and optionally send an auto-reply email.
